Is It Just Pressing a Button?

I get it—it can look that way. On a wedding day, guests often see us photographers walk around, approach with a smile, press a button, and move on. Simple, right?

Well, I could say a lot here (and honestly, I might get a little emotional).

The truth is, yes, there are photographers who settle for just that. They show up, charge a low rate, take a few quick snaps, and head home. Done and dusted. But that’s not the kind of work that moves people—or me.

Real work begins when we choose to understand. And let me tell you, that takes time, intention, and a lot of heart.

You can take all the courses, listen to every podcast, and study every technique—and that helps. But it’s not until you’re standing in the middle of a wedding, surrounded by fleeting emotions and once-in-a-lifetime moments, that you start to really understand.

So yes, technically I’m pressing a button. But the art lies in knowing whywhen, and where to press it. And then, afterward, looking at what was captured and finding even more life inside it.

That’s how I see it: photography isn’t just about clicking—it’s about connectingfeeling, and bringing moments to life long after they’ve passed.
